We will spend the day amongst a herd of four horses and two donkeys. Through a variety of experiences and exercises, each equestrian team member will provide insights to our human connections, plus how we communicate and lead in relation to each other.

Designed and hosted by Holistic Health Connections Charter Member, Sarah Palmer, the Mindful Self-Care Retreat will be a day to soothe all your senses.
Enter the farm through its welcoming gate and enter another world.
Professional Life Coach and Equine Facilitated Learning Specialist, Sarah Palmer, brings a long history and special brand of experience to her retreats.
This experience—called equine-facilitated learning—offers a serene space for personal development, team building, and much needed time in nature.
Restoration and nourishment of the mind, body, and spirit is the purpose of the day.
You meet the other 29 retreaters in the farmhouse where we begin the day with an opening poem and sound chime.
Then, you learn how horses can heal, and how they add value to humans as teachers, guides, and coaches. By observing and assessing the herd you learn how to tap into your true potential through mindfulness, journaling, meditation, Qi Gong and T'ai Chi exercises.
For lunch, relax in the Dovecot farmhouse with wraparound views of the equestrian retreat, trees, and wildlife. The barn is a lovely open-plan space for hanging out with the horses.
This program includes reflective time with the horses, and also with yourself.
At the end of the day, there will be a closing workshop prayer.

The Mindful Self-Care Retreat is designed as a gentle program to lead you through moments that reduce stress, release tension, reconnect you to yourself, others, and the world, and remind you that outside of how you serve every day there awaits a world ready to serve you.
Through a slow-paced process you will experience:
HEARTMATH so that you learn to use a simple, powerful, science-based technique to use your heart as a source of intelligence to create a sense of calm and in-the-moment presence that reduces such emotions as frustration, irritation, anxiety, or anger.
MINDFULNESS to help you achieve a state of present moment awareness while you calmly acknowledge and accept your thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations so that you reclaim control over your daily experience.
BREATHWORK that introduces you to simple practices in which the conscious control of your breathing influences your mental, emotional, and physical experience of calm and relaxation.
SILENT MEDITATION offers time for you to focus inward as you train your attention and awareness to achieve a calm, stable, and mentally clear state.
JOURNALING to give yourself time and a process to be in connection and communication with your deeper self so that you release emotion, create a positive frame of mind, and invite yourself to create a sense of thoughtfully structured well-being.
COMPASSIONATE LEADERSHIP training teaches you how to focus on what's best for an individual or a team through a willingness to be kind, thoughtful, and aware.
T'AI CHI to integrate your mind and body, control movements and breathing, generate internal energy and mindfulness, plus cultivate the life energy in you to flow smoothly and powerfully throughout the body.
QI GONG to give your body some gentle exercise through repeated movements that stretch the body, increase fluid movement, and build awareness of how your body moves through space.
TIBETAN SINGING BOWLS to soothe your senses, restore normal, vibratory frequencies to out-of-harmony parts of the mind, body, and soul, and entrain your experience for healing and meditation.
HERD DYNAMICS observation will introduce you to a new way of focusing on heart-centered authenticity, congruence with your emotions, and interaction from a place of clam, peace, awareness, and mindfulness.
COACHING to lead you through a day of self-exploration designed to improve internal connection, clarity, transformation, and takeaway practices so that you can extend the peace of this retreat into your daily life.
DISC ASSESSMENT offers a personalized behavior evaluation that centers on four difference personality traits (dominance, influence, steadiness, and conscientiousness) so that you understand how you interact with others and can utilize this knowledge to improve communication, leadership, and productivity.
LUNCH IN THE FARMHOUSE offers another gentle component of self-care while you nourish your body in the serene setting of the lodge overlooking the pond and fountain.
Sarah and her horses are wonderful. On this lovely farm there is a beautiful state-of-the- art stable, a home where Sarah holds her classes, and a separate newly built Airbnb. Sarah is a compassionate world traveler. She imparts her wisdom through the horses and meditation. I recommend a visit. I know I will be back.
